Wish List =D
Right, so you have arrived at my newly-renovated wish list, which is now done in prose form, because point form is something darn awkward and hey, I get to crap a lil’ here too. (Oops.) Thanks for having a look. I’m glad you’re interested, even if you have no intention of buying me a thing. (Oi. What can you expect of the world these days?)
Let’s start out being idealistic. You should know by now that I am an idealist, but that’s not the point. The point is, if I could have all I want, materially, let’s see… if I could have…
a house, it’d be a terrace house in Thailand, because detached houses are far too dangerous. Do you know that Singha Beer owner’s bungalow got robbed a few times? If it’s in Singapore, I’d go for a condominium. Okay, honestly, I want a detached house, like my friend’s one hehe, but that’s near-impossible. Well, with God all things are possible, but asking for that kinda thing is childish. Anyhoo… if possible, I’d like my own badminton court to come with the house, or at least badminton courts as part of common facilities. Other details, I can’t be bothered to furnish. XD
a car, er… okay I haven’t thought of something concrete of that, but I think I like Mercedes-Benz. I’d go for one that’s energy-efficient, even if it means the car won’t be the biggest around, because I want to minimize LRAC (long-run average cost, for those of you who never studied Economics!) for my car. Throw in LPG (gaseous fuel as primary energy source instead of petrol) and that’d be great! Solar energy, wondrous! (I’m a green person, doncha think? Okay, I like green as a colour too, as you can guess from my blog designs but yeah… so yeah… digressed again…) I haven’t learned to drive, that’s why I never thought about this.
a desktop computer, well, Sirs and Madams, IT advances real fast, and if I throw down the specs of my dream PC here, it’d become outdated before I finish the glass of iced lemon tea that I’m drinking. Okay, maybe not that fast… I’d like to have multiple PC’s for multiple uses though. High-end one for gaming and multimedia work, including 3D, and another one for document work, both connected to Starhub MaxOnline Ultimate and linked to a file server, in addition to each PC’s own HDD. (That’s a lot to ask for a personal user? I’m not a geek for nothing y’know.)
a notebook computer, make that multiple ones again, please. Different ones for different purposes. My business one will be an HP for sure, like HP Compaq nx9420 Business Notebook PC but by the time you click the link, it’d be outdated already so nvm…. My gaming one… hmm… Alienware I think, or HP. Top-of-the-line for gaming; for my business one ar… I’ll be happy if it’s not Celeron lo… a decent dual core should be alright with me.
a mobile phone, I’d have HP iPAQ hw6965 Mobile Messenger (warning: might be outdated already) or an O2… doubly happy if you could provide me a casing for it. ^^ My Nokia 6151 serves me great though.
an MP3 player, well, it ain’t necessary for me… my PDA phone should double as it anyway, but IMO I’d get Apple 8 GB iPod nano Green
a printer, ah yes… Canon PIXMA iP6700D will suit my needs. Please don’t get me an A3 printer… they are overly sized and I never will print A3 so ==”
a badminton racquet, I have just gotten a new one, a YONEX Arcsaber 7, and it’s top-of-the-line, so I will ask for the same one. Honestly, I don’t have the skills necessary to use it, but since my badminton teacher in Thailand who recommended me the racquet said that with proper training and airtime (on the court), I will reach the level of skills necessary to utilize the full potential of the racquet (sounds like an MMORPG don’t you think?) and since it’s on special price, my parents gave me it. (”As a present for good academic results.” Tch. Not that I don’t appreciate it but what a comment… what a world lacking in grace. Work to earn things.”)[/rant]
… now on to miscellaneous things, I love those Hogwarts ties. For some reason, the colours are so nice. Online tests say I’m Ravenclaw but the sorting hat on the official web-site says I’m Gryffindor; I’m happy with either! I’m no fan of Harry Potter though, I simply like the tie, that’s all. The same goes with Hogwarts sweater. Practically though, don’t sweat yourself to go buy these clothings for me… normal clothings will do. XD
If you are observant, yes, I mentioned that I wanted and still want a complete Clow Card book with all 52 Clow Cards. Then, there is Starfleet officer uniform (with maroon undershirt for command division, and rank pips for captain… or if you can get me admiral’s uniform + rank pins then even better) and the phaser rifle props. I wish for them. However, well, it’s not exactly what I want.
Let’s move on to the real wish list.
Christian books. Simple as that. It dawned on me that my love for reading has come back again since I finished my ‘A’ Levels, and I have been hunger to know more about God, and I find that the best gifts to me is just that: wisdom… not just mere man’s wisdom, but God’s wisdom, to love and fear Him and to be His friend, son and executioner of His will on earth.
If you don’t get me Christian books, get me books. Novels, computer books… oh yes, computer books… the following topics fall within my liking: C++, Java, PHP, MySQL, Scheme, any Adobe software and 3ds max, but any IT books would be great. Or any book that you think I will like. =)
Music CD’s. Ah yes, I lack the $ to buy all these and, as much as I am all right with BT’ing and borrowing, wouldn’t it be better if you would buy Hillsong or any Christian music CD’s for me?
Support the artists, no matter how overpriced the CD’s are. [/opinion] =P
Apart from that, Westlife CD’s would be great.
Stationery are great too, because I can definitely put them to excellent use, and will treasure that Parker pen that you buy for me. =) Or that Pentel gel pen. It’s my primary weapon of choice when it comes to writing, and its ink is blue.
Supplemental list: Christmas 2008!
As many of you know, my handphone has been getting wonky, so I think this is a good time to consider getting a new handphone. I have always been using Nokia, but am okay with other brands. There is no need to get me the newest, most feature-rich one in the market; a decent one will do.
Another gadget that is wearing out due to heavy use is my watch. I am not sure if I can get the current one repaired back in Thailand, but it would be nice to simply get a new watch altogether, since my current one has stuck with me for more than four years, and the leather strap is wearing out very visibly. CASIO preferred.
For something more realistic, I am running out of CD-R’s to burn, so a stack of blank CD-R or DVD+-R will be pretty nifty.
Another staple in my everyday use is lecture pad. For my first semester here, I burned away two lecture pads, so that was a good deal of writing. I don’t think I wrote more than I did back in JC or Secondary School, but still, that was quite a load of paper, so if you want to buy me something useful that doesn’t break your wallet, this will be much appreciated. Oh, don’t buy me the cute, decorative or fancy type. I won’t dare to use it.
If you are positively out of idea, simply get me shopping vouchers! Like, Takashimaya one, y’know. It’s the most flexible gift a person can give (save for cash, of course).
Er… that’s it… as far as I can think of right now.
Oh, my friend asked me once whether I prefer gifts that are practical or gifts that are plain eye-candy. The answer: practical gifts please. To add, I’d prefer durable gifts to foodstuffs.
That’s really about it. It boils down, however, to well, you. I mean hey, if someone’s gonna give you a present, do you tell him or her what to get? Don’t ask, hehe, (I have already provided a guide here anyway) surprise me.
Thanks for reading!
